The (less obvious) differences between a 30, 60 and 90 minute massage
If you’ve ever called to book in for a massage you’ve probably been asked something along the lines of “Would you like to book in for a 30minute, 60 minute or 90 minute massage?”.
While it may seem like a simple question what the person on the other end of the phone is really asking is “What are you looking to achieve during your session?” As there is a big difference in the treatment you receive and what can be achieved in 30 minutes vs 90 minutes.
The 60 minute massage
The 60 minute massage is the most common at the Paddington Health Hub and for good reason: in 60 minutes you can achieve a lot!
All our new clients are booked in for a minimum of 60 minutes. This allows enough time for your therapist to conduct an initial assessment – this is both a quick chat about what your current concerns are as well a look at how your body is moving, and still leaves plenty of time for a full treatment.
During a 60 minute massage we can also cover multiple areas in depth or do a relaxation full body massage.
The 60 minute massage is perfect for:
- All new clients
- People who have multiple areas of pain (for example lower back AND shoulder pain)
- If you’re looking for a full body relaxation massage
The 30 minute massage
Think of the 30 minute massage as a very targeted treatment option, or as one part of a multi-pronged treatment approach. For example some of our clients will have a 30 minute massage before their physiotherapy appointment.
During the 30 minute appointment your therapist usually only has time to cover one area in depth or half the body ( for example neck, upper back and shoulders) for a relaxation massage.
The 30 minute massage is perfect for:
- Treating a specific injury or concern ( for example lower back OR shoulder)
- For clients who after treatment ( with longer massage appointments or physiotherapy) are now injury free and looking for regular and targeted maintenance therapy
- If you’re looking for a half body relaxation massage ( neck, shoulders and back)
The 90 minute massage
At the Paddington Health Hub we don’t consider our 90 minute massage an indulgence, instead it is the ultimate in self care. In 90 minutes you can combine the targeted treatment of multiple areas with an all over body relaxation massage or if you really do want to indulge you can relax for the entire 90 minutes.
The 90 minute massage if perfect for:
- Targeted treatment AND a full body massage
- If you haven’t been for a massage in a while and you know you have multiple areas that need a little more attention
- You want to feel like you’re walking on clouds
So next time you’re booking in for a massage think about what you want to get out of your appointment and make sure to book in enough time to achieve it.
