Pilates is a specialised form of exercise that focuses on core strength, movement control, balance, posture, and flexibility. Pilates traditionally focuses on the “core stability muscles” such as the transverse abdominis and pelvic floor muscles which helps to support the spine and pelvis.
Pilates can be used as a treatment option to reduce pain; in particular neck and back pain through strengthening muscles, improving posture and developing more optimal movement patterns. However more recently people are discovering the benefits of Pilates can be used for a wide range of reasons including rehabilitations from injury or surgery, to improve functional movement to optimise performance in other exercise and activities, and as a general exercise program for health and well-being.

The Mat Pilates class is a floor pilates class that will challenge your body and mind. The class is designed as a generalized strengthening and toning exercise class with a strong focus on targeting common areas of weakness such as the core and glutes. This class is good for beginners and experienced Pilates go-ers alike, as each movement can be scaled to suit your individual needs.
Are you curious about Pilates? Are you a beginner with lots of questions but feeling a little nervous about getting started? A private session with one of our friendly instructors will enhance your introduction to Pilates with a more personalised, attentive approach targeted specifically to your individual needs and preferred pace. These sessions will cover the basics of pilates, focus on your technique and answer any questions you may have. Private sessions can be ongoing or a one-off to help you feel more comfortable transitioning into our weekly classes.
