Do I need a referral from my GP?
No, most clients do not need a doctor’s referral to see a physiotherapist.
However, we do like working closely with your doctor to keep them informed on your treatment and progress. We may also refer you back to your doctor or other medical specialist if we believe it is necessary.
You will need a referral if your fees are being subsidised by Work Cover, Medicare the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, or as part of an insurance claim.

The time allotted usually permits us to assess and treat only one area. We prefer to start with the area that is causing you the most concern. If the areas of pain are directly related (e.g. back pain with referred buttock and leg pain, or neck and shoulder blade with arm pain), they can usually be treated in the one regular session.
You can book for an extended treatment for more than one condition if you prefer; however this requires extra time and does cost more. Please call and discuss your requirements with our team when making the appointment so the correct time can be allotted.

It’s often possible to notice results during or soon after the first session. For most people, our holistic approach to your treatment compared to standard Physiotherapy or other types of treatment, results in total recovery time being shorter. This means fewer total visits and lower overall cost. Once these results occur, we outline a time-frame for a full recovery, indicating how many treatment sessions you need, and how rapidly you are likely to recover fully.
There are three potential ‘side effects’ from treatment that you can experience:
You may feel local tenderness (similar to a bruisy-type feeling) around the point that has been treated. Your physiotherapist will always check if you’re okay with the amount of pressure and decrease if needed.
Sometimes clients have a short term (usually a minute or two) of feeling dizzy or a feeling of being light-headed when a point in their body that has been tight for a long time is released. Again your physio will monitor if this happens and only work as strongly as you feel comfortable.
Some people report feeling a bit ‘washed out’ or tired following a session.
These are all normal and TEMPORARY responses when the true underlying cause of a condition is found and treated.
The other more important effect, is that your body will start to feel more comfortable and move better, meaning you’ll be able to do things that you want to do.
A minimum of 24 hours notice is required for appointment changes or cancellations otherwise fees apply.
To change or cancel your appointment call (07) 3194 2162. Please leave a message if there is no answer.
Email reminders will be sent 2 days before your appointment. We also encourage you to put appointments/reminders in your diary.
We recommend that you wear something comfortable and that allows you to move freely. Most people wear a similar outfit that they would exercise in but shorts and a t-shirt or singlet is fine.
If you are having problems with the lower half of your body (from the lower back down your your toes) we also ask that you please bring in any shoes you wear often, for example your running shoes and work shoes.
