Behind the Scenes at FORDESPHYSIO: Why we are always learning!
Do you know how diamonds are made? They start their journey as mere crystals of carbon. Through pressure (hard work) and high temperatures (stepping out of their comfort zone) they evolve into the highly coveted gem stones we’re all familiar with! You might be wondering what this has to do with FORDESPHYSIO?
At FORDESPHYSIO we pride ourselves on offering you a diamond-like level of support to help you live a healthier life. That means we’re constantly working hard and stepping out of our comfort zones to become better. Continual professional development is important to us and last month we were SUPER busy learning new things. Here’s a sneak peek into our adventures…
What we went to:
Alex & Ashlee headed off to Scarborough for a full day workshop with the guys at The Ultimate Physio. They taught us ways in which we can support you better by bringing you up to date content through our Facebook Pages and blog. So keep an eye out for lots of great information coming your way soon!
Alex also attended book club with the team at Strive Occupational Therapy. They’ve just read the book Dare to Lead by Brene Brown. Together they discussed the importance of having those tough conversations in healthcare. They talked about the importance of letting the people around you know how they can help you turn up and work hard. In your case it might mean letting your practitioner know that you need more help with your health and finding ways together to create set goals and actionable steps to get there.
Alex caught up with Sal from Barefoot Physio and a bunch of local health experts from the other side of the river. They chatted about the importance of working together in a healthcare team and discussed the best ways in which we can facilitate referrals between the members of our community so that you guys get the best of the best helping you on your health and wellness journey. We’re hoping to get some collaboration going with our new friends to bring you inside knowledge from a range of industry experts including personal trainers, Pilates instructors and psychologists. If you have any specific questions just let us know and we can ask our new friends to answer them for you!
We think it is important not only to learn new things but to also be part of the new research! Alex participated in a new research study about supporting females who are navigating their health through the mid-life stage. This can be a stressful time for females both physically and mentally with changes in hormones, bone health and mental well-being. Understanding the changes that are happening and getting the right support can not only make you feel better now but prevent problems in the future.
August was definitely action-packed and we can’t wait to see what September brings. What new learnings are you planning to undertake this month? Let us know in the comments below!
